BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping warmly shook hands with Asim Munir and said, “We welcome Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on his arrival in China. We know that the Field Marshal has returned from Iran.”
According to reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Chinese President Xi Jinping, where important matters including bilateral relations were discussed. Talks were also held regarding ongoing strategic cooperation between the two countries and global affairs.
On this occasion, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received a warm welcome from the Chinese President. Xi Jinping said that positive efforts and mediation initiatives for peace are commendable and appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the Middle East.
The Chinese President stated that China gives priority to relations with Pakistan and said high-level security cooperation should be further enhanced.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the credit for the everlasting friendship between the two countries goes to their founding leaders. He added that tireless efforts have been made to strengthen bilateral relations and both sides will continue to further deepen ties.
The Prime Minister said China plays an important role in global development and peace, adding that under Xi Jinping’s leadership, China has become a major global economic and military power.
He further said Pakistan and China are iron brothers bound in a unique relationship, and that Pakistan’s unwavering commitment will further strengthen bilateral ties. He also described Hangzhou’s development as a reflection of Xi Jinping’s vision and dynamic leadership, while calling the Belt and Road Initiative and CPEC projects of prosperity and development.
