PM Shehbaz Sharif Chian visit

During Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s important visit to China, he was given a grand and highly dignified welcome at Beijing’s “Hall of Fame.” Chinese Premier Li Qiang warmly received his Pakistani counterpart, after which a smartly turned-out contingent of the Chinese armed forces presented a guard of honor to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Reception Ceremony and Delegation Introductions

Upon arriving in Beijing, when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached the Great Hall of the People for meetings, Chinese Premier Li Qiang personally welcomed him. Both leaders shook hands warmly and expressed goodwill towards each other. At the beginning of the ceremony, the national anthems of both countries were played, followed by introductions of the high-level delegations from both sides.

Gratitude for Invitation and Condolences on Shaanxi Mine Incident

At the start of the delegation-level meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked his Chinese counterpart, saying: “I am deeply grateful for this warm invitation to visit China.”

The Prime Minister said that visiting China is always a pleasure for him because every time they come, they see new construction and remarkable development.

He also expressed deep sorrow over a recent coal mine explosion in China’s Shaanxi province. He offered condolences over the loss of precious lives and injuries, and assured full solidarity with the Chinese people and the affected families.

75 Years of Pakistan-China Friendship and a Historic Turning Point

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of Pakistan-China relations, stating that both countries are standing at a very important historical turning point. Pakistan and China are celebrating 75 years of their everlasting friendship and diplomatic relations.

He recalled that this deep, ocean-like friendship was founded by the founding leaders of both countries and is being further strengthened by today’s leadership.

PM’s Busy Schedule and Upcoming Engagements in Beijing

The day in Beijing is extremely busy for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif from a political and diplomatic perspective. According to the schedule, the key activities include:

Meeting with Chinese President: After detailed delegation-level talks with Premier Li Qiang, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also hold a highly important meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Signing of Agreements: Both sides will participate in the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and new development agreements.

Tribute to National Heroes: The Prime Minister will visit Beijing’s historic Tiananmen Square, where he will lay a floral wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes.

Meetings with Investors: As part of the economic agenda, the Prime Minister will meet leading Chinese investors and CEOs of major companies to discuss investment opportunities in Pakistan.

75th Anniversary Celebrations: He will also attend a special and grand ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations alongside top Chinese leadership.

CPEC and a New Phase of Economic Partnership

The 75 years of Pakistan-China relations come at a time when Pakistan is facing severe economic challenges. This visit is not limited to traditional diplomacy; its core focus is the launch of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and attracting Chinese industries into Pakistan.

The warm welcome in Beijing reflects that despite changing geopolitical realities in the region, China continues to view Pakistan as strategically important.

By expressing condolences over the mining incident, Shehbaz Sharif demonstrated Pakistan’s solidarity with China in times of both joy and sorrow.

If meetings with Chinese CEOs and companies are successful, they could pave the way for billions of dollars in new Chinese investment in Pakistan’s IT, agriculture, and energy sectors.
