Iran-US possible deal, oil prices drop sharply in global market

Global drop in oil prices

Expectations of a possible agreement between Iran and the United States have had an immediate impact on global oil markets, leading to a significant drop in crude oil prices.

According to reports, crude oil prices fell by more than 5% during early trading in Asian markets on Monday. Brent crude dropped by 5.1% to $98.22 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell by 5.2% to $91.57 per barrel.

Market analysts say the decline is driven by growing expectations of progress in ongoing Iran-US negotiations and a potential agreement. Investors believe that easing tensions between the two countries could improve global oil supply, reducing pressure on prices.

US President Donald Trump has, however, downplayed expectations of an immediate deal, saying negotiations will not be rushed. In a statement on social media, he said US representatives have been instructed to thoroughly review all matters before reaching any final decision.

Global oil prices are closely linked to the political situation in the Middle East, and any positive development in Iran-US relations typically has an immediate impact on the international energy market.

Oil traders say that if a formal agreement is reached, oil prices could remain under pressure in the short term due to expectations of improved supply stability. However, any delay or breakdown in talks may quickly reverse the current downward trend in prices.

Meanwhile, shipping companies are closely monitoring developments in the Strait of Hormuz, as any changes in its dynamics could significantly influence global shipping routes and crude oil transportation costs.
