Web Desk: Pakistan rejected a US television report alleging the presence of Iranian aircraft at a military airbase near Islamabad, calling the claims “misleading” and “sensationalised” amid ongoing diplomatic engagement linked to regional tensions.

In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office dismissed speculation surrounding Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase, saying the narrative appeared aimed at undermining efforts to maintain regional peace and stability.

The statement said several Iranian and US aircraft arrived in Pakistan following a ceasefire and during the initial phase of talks held in Islamabad to facilitate the movement of diplomatic personnel, security teams and administrative staff connected to the negotiation process.

According to the Foreign Office, some aircraft and support personnel temporarily remained in Pakistan in anticipation of future rounds of dialogue.

Although formal negotiations have not yet resumed, Pakistan said high-level diplomatic contacts between the concerned parties remain ongoing.

The Foreign Office added that logistical and administrative arrangements linked to visits by Iran’s foreign minister to Islamabad were being facilitated under existing diplomatic protocols.

Pakistan emphasized that the Iranian aircraft currently in the country arrived during the ceasefire period and were not connected to any military contingency or security operation.

“It is contrary to the facts to suggest otherwise,” the statement said, describing the claims as speculative and inconsistent with the ground realities.

Islamabad reiterated that it has consistently supported dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability while maintaining what it described as a neutral and constructive role in diplomatic efforts.

The statement said Pakistan had provided routine logistical and administrative support where necessary while ensuring transparency and maintaining communication with all relevant parties.

Pakistan also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, stability and meaningful dialogue in the region and beyond, adding that it would continue efforts aimed at reducing tensions and encouraging diplomatic engagement.
