Punjab government issues new regulations for kite flying 2027

Web Desk: the Government of Punjab has issued new rules and regulations for kite flying in 2027. The deadline for compliance with these regulations has been set for December 30, 2026.


These steps have been taken on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property. It has been made mandatory for all citizens, building owners, and event organizers to comply with these regulations.

Rules and Regulations:

According to the new rules, kite flying will only be allowed on strong and safe rooftops, while it is mandatory for rooftop boundary walls to have a minimum height of three and a half feet. Prioritizing children’s safety, parents and guardians have been instructed to maintain constant supervision, and children will not be allowed near rooftop edges without supervision.


Running, jumping, hanging from edges, and aggressively retrieving kites on rooftops have been completely prohibited. Similarly, gathering more people than the allowed capacity on rooftops will not be permitted.


The use of loud music, DJ systems, and noise-producing equipment during kite flying has also been banned, while any activity causing disturbance to neighbors will be treated as a punishable offense.


First aid kits have been made mandatory at all locations, and citizens have been instructed to immediately contact Rescue 1122 in any emergency situation.


According to the regulations, in case of an accident or violation, building owners and event organizers will be held responsible and strict legal action will be taken.


The Chief Minister of Punjab has directed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure 100% implementation. She appreciated public cooperation during previous Basant celebrations and stated that a safe Basant will also be ensured in 2027. The government’s stance is that human lives cannot be put at risk in the name of kite flying under any circumstances
