Najam sethi on Indan media highlights Pakistan role

Renowned Pakistani journalist Najam Sethi recently spoke about Pakistan’s important role in the negotiations between Iran and United States during a TV show. While appearing on a program by India Today / News Today, he said that Pakistan has established itself as a significant mediator on the global stage.

During the show, host Rajdeep Sardesai asked who is actually leading Pakistan — whether it is Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, or Field Marshal Asim Munir, who is making the key decisions.

In response, Najam Sethi said there is strong coordination between the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister, and that the military leadership under Asim Munir is also on the same page. He added that Pakistan’s leadership remains in constant contact and is working together on a shared platform to resolve the issue.

Rajdeep Sardesai further asked whether Pakistan expects financial benefits from these negotiations, particularly regarding oil, as a large portion passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

Sethi replied that regardless of whether the talks succeed or fail, Pakistan has already established itself as an important mediator. According to him, major global leaders are in contact with Pakistan’s leadership and are encouraging it to continue playing this role.

During the discussion, Sardesai also raised India’s concerns about Pakistan, especially allegations related to terrorism. Sethi responded that Pakistan no longer exports terrorism and that the world has recognized this change. When past incidents involving militants were mentioned, he said those were matters of the past and that the current government is focused on the present. He also emphasized that Pakistan has successfully asserted its strategic position and importance in global relations.

In conclusion, Rajdeep Sardesai remarked that Pakistan is increasing its global significance, and there is hope that these negotiations will succeed and help end conflict in the Middle East. Najam Sethi added that the world wants these talks to succeed so that peace can be established in the region.
