US President Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News, has praised Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling them “great people.”
Trump acknowledged Pakistan’s key regional role, stating that the country is geographically close to Iran and actively engaged in efforts to help resolve the ongoing situation between the United States and Iran.
He expressed optimism over Pakistan’s diplomatic involvement, saying he believes the leadership in Islamabad is “trying to work something out” and that their efforts appear to be “very successful.”
The US President’s remarks highlight Pakistan’s growing role as a mediator in regional tensions, particularly in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
Islamabad has recently been involved in backchannel diplomacy aimed at reducing tensions and supporting indirect communication between the two sides.
