Web Desk: A drone strike near Dubai International Airport sparked a fire in a fuel tanker area on Monday. Authorities quickly suspended incoming flight landings and launched an emergency response.

The Dubai Media Office said emergency teams rushed to the site soon after officials reported the drone incident near the airport perimeter.

Officials said the drone hit a fuel tanker close to the airport. The impact started a fire and forced authorities to declare an emergency around the facility.

Fire crews and specialised teams moved in immediately. They began operations to contain the blaze and secure nearby areas.

Firefighters from Dubai Civil Defence continued efforts to extinguish the flames. Crews also worked to stop the fire from spreading to nearby infrastructure.

Authorities said response teams followed strict safety procedures during the operation. Crews worked to bring the situation under control as quickly as possible.

Officials temporarily halted incoming flight landings at Dubai International Airport as a precaution. Aircraft bound for Dubai remained in holding patterns in nearby airspace.

Authorities said they took the measure to protect passengers while crews handled the fire.

The Dubai Media Office said officials have not received reports of injuries or fatalities so far. Emergency teams continue to monitor the area.

Separately, Saudi state television said air defenses shot down 34 drones within one hour. The report did not say whether the drones were linked to the Dubai incident.

Dubai authorities said they continue to monitor the situation. They plan to resume normal flight operations once conditions are safe.
