ECP issues regulations on Right of Access to Information

ECP regulations on RTI


The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued new regulations regarding the right of access to information.


According to the ECP, these regulations will apply to all offices of the Election Commission. At the secretariat level, the Chief Information Officer will handle related matters, while at the provincial level, the Public Information Officer will be responsible.


The ECP stated that any citizen can submit a request to obtain information. The Chief Information Officer or Public Information Officer will make a decision within 14 working days.
The Commission will charge a fee of Rs 10 per page for providing information.


Furthermore, If access to information is denied, the affected party may file an appeal before the Chief Election Commissioner within 14 daA


According to the ECP, its records will be categorized as classified or non-classified.
