Web Desk: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has declared a two-day public holiday across the region to ensure the smooth and organized conduct of the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections.

The holiday order, issued through an official notification from the General Administration Department, suspends regular government and educational operations on June 5 and June 6, 2026.

Despite the widespread closures, the regional administration clarified that departments and organizations rendering essential services will continue to function.

These essential operations will remain active in accordance with their specific operational requirements to avoid any public inconvenience during the election window.

The strategic placement of the holidays allows for comprehensive security deployment and logistical arrangements prior to the official polling day, which the election commission scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026.
