Turkish Army Chief meets Pakistan COAS at GHQ

Web desk: Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met Turkey’s top military commander, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday, underscoring the two countries’ commitment to deepening defence cooperation.

A contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces presented a guard of honour to the visiting Turkish chief upon his arrival at GHQ, military officials said.


During the meeting, both sides reviewed matters of shared interest, including the evolving regional and global security environment. The discussions also focused on expanding bilateral defence and military collaboration, according to officials.

The two commanders expressed satisfaction with the current momentum in Pakistan–Türkiye relations and emphasized the importance of sustained coordination between their armed forces.


Field Marshal Munir highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye, describing it as rooted in shared history, mutual confidence, and strong people-to-people connections. He acknowledged the continued support and cooperation of the Turkish Armed Forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening military-to-military ties.

General Bayraktaroglu thanked Pakistani authorities for the warm reception and praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He reiterated Türkiye’s intent to broaden defence cooperation through training programmes, joint exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.

The visit reflects the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye and their shared objective of promoting regional peace, stability, and security, officials said.
