⏱ 2 minute read
WhatsApp hacking

Web Desk: WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging app today, but in recent times, several cases of WhatsApp hacking and data loss have come to the notice of users. In such a situation, users become panicked and often do not know how to get their account back. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued clear guidance in this regard.

According to the PTA, if your WhatsApp account is hacked, it can be made secure and functional again by following a few simple steps:

Re-register your phone number

Install WhatsApp and enter your number. WhatsApp will send you a verification code, which can be entered to get your account back.

Enable Two-Step Verification

This feature protects the account from unauthorized access.

Update Password and Security

Change your phone and WhatsApp passwords and avoid any suspicious links or files.

Scan for antivirus

Run a full scan to eliminate the presence of any virus or malware in the mobile.

Notify friends and contacts

If unusual messages have been sent from the account, inform your friends so that they can be careful.

Social media user Rana Imran Tahir said that some friends’ mobiles got such a virus from an unknown number that all the data was lost as soon as they opened WhatsApp. This shows that not only hacking but also suspicious links and files can pose a threat to the privacy and data of users.

PTA has also given some important security tips to users:

Open files and links only from trusted sources.
Update WhatsApp privacy settings regularly.
Keep the mobile’s operating system and antivirus updated.
Contact WhatsApp support immediately in case of any unusual activity.

Muhammad Umair, a user, said that this awareness is not only limited to technical information but is also a proof of love for the Urdu language and service to the public. Users should keep their accounts safe and inform others about this.

A hacked WhatsApp account can be recovered with the guidance of the PTA and a few simple steps. These steps not only protect your data but also serve as a means of preventing any unusual activity in the future.
