President Zardari holds key talks with Karbala governor

 Governor of Karbala, Iraq, Dr Nsayif Jassim Al-Khatabi, hosted Pakistan’s President on Tuesday. Both leaders discussed enhancing the relationship between Pakistan and Iraq. They also discussed improving areas, including tourism and protection of historical ties.

According to the president’s media wing, President Zardari praised the Iraqi government for giving him a warm welcome. He also stressed the significance of sustained collaboration between both countries.

President Zardari said it was an honour for him to be in Karbala as it is the home of several sacred places in Islam.

Senator Sherry Rehman, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Governor of Punjab, Senior Minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon, Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iraq were also on a visit with Zardari.

“The Iraq visit is part of President Zardari’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic, cultural, and people-to-people ties in the region,” it was further added.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday praised the security forces for carrying out a successful operation against Indian-backed Fitna al-Khawarij in Dera Ismail Khan.

In a statement from the Presidency, President Zardari appreciated the forces for killing seven terrorists during the operation. He said the action showed the state’s strong resolve to maintain its authority and protect national security.

The president also paid tribute to Naik Yasir Khan Shaheed, who lost his life in the line of duty. He said the entire nation stands with the martyr’s family in their time of grief.

In a separate statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the officers and personnel of the security forces for their courage and professionalism during the operation in the Kolachi area of Dera Ismail Khan.

The prime minister praised the forces for neutralising seven terrorists and foiling their plans. He paid rich tribute to Naik Yasir Khan Shaheed and acknowledged his sacrifice for the defence of the country.
