A business jet has crashed after taking off from Ankara’s Esenboga International Airport. According to the media report, Libya’s army chief, Mohammed Ali Al Hadad, was on the jet with four other individuals. Turkey’s interior minister, Ali Yerlikaya, also confirmed the jet crash and death of Libya’s army chief, along with four other individuals.
According to the global media, the plane crashed after 30 minutes of departure.
Turkey’s interior minister said that rescue teams have reached the crash site.
“Contact was lost at 20:52 with a Falcon 50 business jet bearing tail number 9H-DFJ that took off from Ankara’s Esenboga Airport at 20:10 this evening bound for Tripoli,” Yerlikaya wrote on X.
“There were five passengers on board the aircraft, including Libya’s Chief of General Staff, General Muhammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad,” Yerlikaya said.
Prime Minister of Libya Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh also confirmed the news of the plane crash and the death of the country’s army chief.
