The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) issued an emergency travel alert, saying heavy fog has forced the closure of Motorway M-11 and M-4. The NHMP said M-11 (Lahore–Sialkot) and M-4 (Gojra–Abdul Hakim Interchange) will stay closed for travellers.
Thick fog disrupted travel in many parts of Pakistan, especially in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where major roads were covered in low visibility.
The dense fog made it difficult for drivers to see, increasing the risk of accidents on highways.
To ensure public safety, the NHMP temporarily closed several motorways to protect commuters from dangerous conditions.
Experts strongly advise travellers to avoid unnecessary night trips and complete their journeys between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. They urge drivers to follow strict safety measures during the foggy season.
They recommend using fog lights and ensuring that vehicle wipers are in good working condition.
Most importantly, drivers should maintain a greater distance between vehicles. The NHMP also continues to discourage the use of high-beam headlights.
