Turkish Energy Minister Visits GHQ, Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir

Rawalpindi: Turkish Minister of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar visited Pakistan’s General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday and held a meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir, the military said. The visit underscored the two countries’ efforts to deepen strategic cooperation and expand collaboration in the energy sector, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Talks Focus on Energy and Strategic Cooperation

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to enhance cooperation in energy and defense-related domains. Officials said the talks also emphasized strengthening existing mechanisms to advance long-term strategic partnerships.

Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further solidifying bilateral ties and noted the importance of expanding cooperation to meet shared regional objectives. He stressed that Pakistan and Türkiye enjoy historic and brotherly relations that continue to grow stronger.

Commitment to Regional Stability

The discussions also highlighted the need for deeper collaboration to support regional stability. Both delegations underlined that stronger Pakistan–Türkiye coordination could help advance common goals and contribute to broader peace efforts in the region.

Appreciation and Assurances

Field Marshal Munir conveyed appreciation for Türkiye’s consistent support to Pakistan at international forums. He said such diplomatic backing reflects the depth of trust between the two nations.

Meanwhile, Bayraktar expressed Türkiye’s desire to expand cooperation in the energy sector and signaled readiness to explore new avenues of partnership. He reaffirmed Ankara’s intent to work closely with Islamabad on mutually beneficial initiatives.

Strengthening Long-Standing Ties

The meeting concluded with both sides reiterating their resolve to build on their long-standing relationship. Officials said the visit marked another step toward enhancing strategic, economic and sectoral collaboration between the two countries.
