Following the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in an Israeli strike, a statement has surfaced from Farah Pahlavi, the widow of the former Shah of Iran.
According to The Times of Israel, in a recent interview, the wife of former Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi described Khamenei’s death as a historically significant event.
Farah Pahlavi stated that the death of an individual — no matter how central to the power structure — does not automatically lead to the collapse of an established and functioning system. She added that even after such a development, the authoritarian system of the Islamic Republic of Iran would not end on its own.
She emphasized that it would depend on the Iranian people’s ability to establish a peaceful, organized system based on the rule of law.
Farah Pahlavi also revealed that her son, Reza Pahlavi, the former Crown Prince of Iran, is currently engaged in preparations for a potential transitional framework.
It is worth recalling that the Pahlavi monarchy in Iran ended with the 1979 Islamic Revolution, after which the royal family went into exile. Farah Pahlavi has been living in exile since 1979 and currently resides in Paris.
In recent months, Reza Pahlavi has visited the United States and the United Kingdom and has remained politically active.
