RAWALPINDI: The Tri-Nation T20 Series kicks off today in Rawalpindi, with the opening match set between host Pakistan and Zimbabwe.
During the trophy unveiling ceremony, the captains of Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka were present.

Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, said the series will offer strong competition. He added that the team will try to give opportunities to new players throughout the tournament, noting that Pakistan has quality all-rounders who can perform both as complete batters and full-time bowlers.
Zimbabwe’s captain, Sikandar Raza, said his side will aim to reach the final, while Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka stated that his team is ready to face every challenge.

It is worth mentioning that two Sri Lankan players have opted to return home without taking part in the series due to illness.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has confirmed that captain Charith Asalanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando have departed for home.
