Apple to launch iPhone Pocket tomorrow

Step into a new chapter of wearable design with what might best be described as a mobile pocket, a sleek, knit mini-bag created especially for your iPhone.

Developed through a collaboration between fashion house Issey Miyake and Apple, the new iPhone Pocket (launching November 14) offers a blend of function and artistry. The piece is reminiscent of Miyake’s signature pleated aesthetic, forming a protective cocoon for any iPhone model.

Each pocket is crafted from a single thread of yarn, 3D-knitted into a tall yet slender form that can hold both your phone and small essentials, almost like a sweater reimagined as a bag. The short-strap version comes in lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black, while the long-strap design is available in sapphire, cinnamon, and black.

Design director Yoshiyuki Miyamae said that the iPhone Pocket reflects “the connection between iPhone and its user,” while embracing Apple’s philosophy of universality and flexibility in design. He added that its understated form “embodies Issey Miyake’s belief in leaving space for personal interpretation.”

Echoing that sentiment, Molly Anderson, Apple’s vice president of industrial design, said the collaboration highlights “craftsmanship, simplicity, and joy,” calling the accessory “a natural complement to Apple’s products.”

The iPhone Pocket will be available in limited quantities starting tomorrow at select Apple Stores and on Apple’s website in France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Pricing is set at $149.95 (US) for the short-strap version and $229.95 (US) for the long-strap edition.
