The Punjab Home Department has issued a top-level alert in the entire province after the recent suicide attack in the district and session court in the G-11 area of Islamabad, the private media channel reported on Tuesday.

The official authorities instructed all the related departments to tighten security in all the districts of Punjab. The Punjab government emphasised increasing the security of public places and highly populated areas all over Punjab. The Sindh government also directed officials to take strict security measures to protect the lives of citizens.

The Punjab police leadership, including the IG Punjab, CCPO Lahore, all RPOs, CPO, and DPOs, has been instructed to stay on high alert and keep the security elevated in the province. However, the Punjab government issued high-alert notices to commissioners, deputy commissioners, and rescue agencies as well.

Officials called on the relevant authorities to take organised and preemptive measures to deal with potential threats from terrorists. The government said that protecting the lives and property of citizens is a priority.

Security officials confirmed that the authorities are increasing the checkpoints, patrols, and monitoring at public spaces, educational institutions, and other sensitive areas. The Punjab government urged citizens to stay alert and avoid gatherings.

“The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the reported suicide attack, and he extends his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a full recovery to those injured,” Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Aziz Haq said.

“The Secretary-General condemns acts of violence and terrorism in the strongest terms,” the spokesperson stressed that there should be accountability for all culprits responsible for the attack in the federal capital.

He also stated that the UN chief called for a full investigation into the attack, which took place outside the district and sessions court building in Islamabad’s G-11 area, killing 12 people and wounding 36.
