KP Governor condemns CM KP’s anti-establishment tirade

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Faisal Karim Kundi Friday condemned the anti-establishment tirade by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, saying such a statement is tantamount to undermining the honour and sacrifice of the armed forces.

“I condemn any rhetoric that seeks to undermine the honour and sacrifice of our armed forces,” wrote KP Governor on his X, formerly Twitter, account.

Governor KP acknowledged that the brave sons of our soil lay down their lives to protect our province. He said that questioning the intent of armed forces in sensational terms only damages morale and public safety.

“Intelligence based operations have been and will remain necessary to protect our people; these are conducted with the sole aim of safeguarding civilians and restoring peace,” stated Governor Kundi, adding that the political debate must not cross into actions or words that weaken our security institutions.

He urged the KP’s chief executive Sohail Afridi to exercise restraint and place the safety and unity of the province above partisan posturing.

“The security situation of our province demands that all political forces stand with our armed forces in pursuit of lasting peace and stability for our people. Ultimately, it is the people who will deliver accountability in the coming elections.”
