Malik Riaz lays atleast 40 employees from Nukta

ISLAMABAD: Renowned property tycoon Malik Riaz has reportedly laid off at least 37 employees from his digital platform, Nukta, amid an ongoing financial crisis.

According to sources, the abrupt termination of such a large number of staff members has caused widespread concern among the remaining employees.

Insiders at Nukta disclosed that the decision stemmed from mounting financial pressures faced by the organisation, forcing management to reduce its workforce.

It is worth noting that Nukta had previously employed a significant number of young professionals as part of its efforts to expand its digital footprint in the media and technology sector.

“In light of recent restructuring at Nukta, we have taken the difficult decision to reduce our Pakistan workforce, impacting 37 colleagues,” announced Nukta

“With this transition, we aim to move forward to a brighter future, where we continue to live our purpose of bringing clarity and compassion to our audiences from our Dubai and Pakistan offices. We look forward to the day when we can invite our impacted colleagues to join us back,” a press statment issued from the Nukta admin further stated.

Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarrar announced today that all 37 expelled employees from digital media platform Nukta will be offered employment, addressing a longstanding gap in protection and representation for digital journalists.

According to officials, employment letters for these observers will be issued within the next 48 hours, ensuring that each individual is formally integrated into a recognized digital platform.

Moreover, the move highlights the government’s effort to provide security and formal recognition to digital media observers, who previously lacked institutional safeguards within the country.
