PIMEC-2025 Karachi: Traffic diversion plan announced

KARACHI: The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC-2025), scheduled from November 3 to 6 at the Expo Centre.

According to the police, diversions, alternate routes, and filter points for heavy traffic have been arranged in major areas including Karsaz, Millennium Mall, Nipa Chowrangi, New Town, and Liaquatabad to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the international event.

At Karsaz, heavy and commercial vehicles coming from Nursery via Shahrae Faisal towards the stadium through Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road and Sir Shah Suleman Road will not be permitted. Motorists from Karsaz and Drigh Road have been advised to use Rashid Minhas Road via Millennium Mall and Nipa instead.

At Millennium Mall, heavy traffic from Rashid Minhas Road will not be allowed to proceed towards the stadium through Dalmia Road. Instead, such vehicles may take alternate routes via Nipa, Askari IV, or Drigh Road towards Shahrae Faisal.

At Nipa Chowrangi, heavy vehicles from Nipa to Hassan Square will not be permitted. Traffic may be diverted through Gulshan Chowrangi–Sohrab Goth or via Rashid Minhas Road–Millennium–Drigh Road.

In New Town, heavy vehicles from adjoining areas will not be allowed onto Stadium or University Road. These will be redirected towards Shaheed-e-Millat Road via Baloch Pull.

From Liaquatabad No. 10, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to move towards Hassan Square via Sir Shah Suleman Road and will instead be diverted towards Shahrah-e-Pakistan via Karimabad to Sohrab Goth.

Additionally, diversions for vehicles from Liaquatabad and Gharibabad towards Stadium Road will remain in effect from 8am to 10am and again from 3pm to 5pm.

On Sir Shah Suleman Road, heavy traffic will not be allowed between Hassan Square and the stadium, though private light vehicles may use the Hassan Square flyover to access the National Bank Stadium.

Citizens have been advised not to park vehicles on main or service roads and to cooperate with traffic officials on duty.

For guidance or real-time updates, motorists can contact the Traffic Police Helpline (1915) or tune in to FM Radio 88.6, as well as follow the Karachi Traffic Police’s social media channels.

“Public cooperation is vital to ensure a smooth traffic flow and prevent inconvenience during the international maritime event,” a traffic police spokesperson stated.
