Lahore: The Tanzeemat Ahle Sunnat has denied giving any call for a shutter-down strike or protest demonstrations today.

Spokesperson Muhammad Akram Rizvi on Friday clarified that no strike had been announced and that only resolutions condemning the Muridke tragedy would be passed during Friday sermons.

He stated that the organization believes in peace and will not take the law into its own hands. “We urge the government to resolve the issues through dialogue, as negotiations are the only solution to all problems,” Rizvi added.

The spokesperson further said that following talks with the government, sealed mosques across the province have been reopened for daily and Friday prayers.

Meanwhile, the Tehreek Tahaffuz Namoos-e-Risalat has also denied announcing any protest call. Its leader, Maulana Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, said that while a three-day mourning period had been observed over the Muridke tragedy, no shutter-down or wheel-jam strike was ever announced.
