Agent of Indian intelligence agency "RAW" sentenced to 114 years imprisonment, fine

Web desk: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi has sentenced an alleged Indian intelligence agency RAW agent, Saleem, to 114 years in prison along with a fine of Rs150,000 in an explosives possession case.

During the hearing, the court cancelled the convict’s bail and ordered his transfer to jail.

According to the prosecution, Saleem was arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) from Karachi’s Mauripur area, where authorities recovered hand grenades, a launcher, and illegal weapons from his possession.

Investigators said the accused revealed during interrogation that he had travelled to India three times between 2012 and 2014. He also confessed that he had illegally entered Pakistan from India in 1989.

The prosecution further informed the court that Saleem had obtained Pakistani identity documents and passports through forgery.

He admitted that he had worked as a rickshaw driver in the Indian city of Gujarat. At the time of his arrest, four Pakistani passports in his possession were also seized.

Previously, Security Forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan District, on September 24 after reports of the presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij, according to an official statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Troops engaged the hideout and killed thirteen terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed.

The statement read, “thirteen Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell.” According to ISPR, the terrorists were involved in several attacks in the area.

These included the suicide bombing in Daraban in December 2023, as well as the abduction and target killing of government officials and civilians.
