WEBDESK: Security forces killed 35 militants in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between 10 and 13 September, the military’s media wing said on Saturday. Twelve soldiers embraced martyrdom during the clashes.
According to ISPR, an intelligence-based operation was carried out in Bajaur district after reports of militant presence. During an intense exchange of fire, 22 militants described as Indian-sponsored were killed.
In another encounter in South Waziristan, 13 more militants were killed by the forces. Weapons and large quantities of ammunition were recovered from their possession. ISPR said the group was involved in several terrorist activities in the region.
The statement confirmed that Afghan nationals had direct involvement in these attacks. It added that the use of Afghan soil by militants against Pakistan remained a serious concern. Pakistan has called on the interim Afghan government to stop its territory from being used for terrorism.
ISPR said clearance and sanitisation operations were under way in the affected areas. It stressed that the armed forces would continue their efforts until the complete elimination of Indian-sponsored terrorism.
Paying tribute to the fallen soldiers, ISPR said their sacrifices had further strengthened the nation’s resolve in the fight against terrorism.
