Web Desk: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has revised the taxes for registration of imported mobile phones in the iPhone 14 series as of April 2026.
The new tax rates will apply to users registering their devices using either a national identity card (CNIC) or a passport.
For users registering the iPhone 14, the new tax has been set at PKR 30,321, while those using a passport will now pay PKR 27,860.
For the iPhone 14 Pro, the tax is PKR 34,101 on CNIC and PKR 31,640 if registered via passport.
For the premium iPhone 14 Pro Max, users registering with a CNIC will pay PKR 48,235, while passport holders will be charged PKR 42,615.
Earlier this month, the Directorate General of Customs Valuation under the FBR increased the customs valuation of 62 models of old and used mobile phones. Premium models such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max were also included in this list.
It is important to note that PTA itself does not determine mobile registration taxes in Pakistan. These taxes are set by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) based on the import value of devices in US dollars.
The newly introduced tax structure by PTA is liable to impact consumers planning to bring smartphones from abroad, as higher valuation directly increases the overall cost of registration.
Mobile phone dealers and users believe that frequent changes in mobile taxation policies create uncertainty in the market, affecting both buyers and sellers. A stable and predictable tax structure could help improve consumer satisfaction and support the growth of Pakistan’s mobile phone industry.
