The country is witnessing a steady rise in weekly inflationary pressures, with the inflation rate recording a rise of 0.17% last week, followed by an overall year-on-year inflation rate of 4.34%, according to the latest data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics. According to the report, prices of 21 essential commodities increased, including live broiler chicken, onions, wheat flour, eggs, molasses, ghee, burning wood and garlic. A twenty kilogram bag of flour became expensive at an average of Rs 117 to Rs 2150. This bag continued to be sold in different cities from 1810 to 3000 rupees. The price of live chicken increased by Rs 29 per kg and the average price was recorded at Rs 350 per kg, while in different cities the price ranged from Rs 320 to Rs 410 per kg. The price of eggs was seen to increase by Rs 7 per dozen and the average price was Rs 321 per dozen. The eggs were sold in different cities for 300 to 360 rupees per dozen. The price of sugar increased by 48 paise, after which the average rate reached Rs 184 per kg. In some areas sugar was available at Rs 177 to Rs 200 per kg. On the other hand, prices of 6 items were also recorded, including tomatoes, potatoes, pulses, chickpeas, bananas and domestic LPG. The price of tomatoes decreased by about Rs 30 per kg and it was sold in different cities at Rs 150 to 370 per kg. The domestic cylinder of LPG became slightly cheaper and was available for an average of Rs 3045, however in some areas its price also went up to Rs 3400. The report also reported that the prices of 24 items remained unchanged and remained stable. This report from the Federal Bureau of Statistics shows that the inflationary burden on the public continues to increase, while the number of relief items is extremely limited.
