Web Desk: The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that the system currently impacts western Punjab, northeastern and southern Balochistan, and lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Furthermore, the disturbance continues to move through northern territories including Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Forecasters warned that isolated hailstorms may accompany these turbulent conditions in several regions during the next twenty-four hours.
In Karachi, residents woke to light rain and drizzle across central and northern neighborhoods, providing a brief reprieve from recent high temperatures. The city encountered gale-force winds prior to the morning showers, and meteorologists expect intermittent rainfall to persist throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Pothohar region and Islamabad experienced partly cloudy skies and scattered rain-thunderstorms as the front moved eastward.
Temperature readings taken on Thursday morning showed Karachi at 25°C and Lahore at 20°C. In the northern regions, Peshawar recorded 17°C while Islamabad stood at 16°C. Significantly cooler weather prevailed in the mountain areas, where temperatures dropped to 6°C in Murree and 10°C in Gilgit.
Due to the intensity of the wet spell, the National Disaster Management Authority issued a formal advisory regarding potential environmental hazards. Specifically, officials warned of flash floods in the local streams of Balochistan and cautioned residents about urban flooding in low-lying areas of Punjab and Islamabad. Consequently, authorities advised citizens to limit unnecessary travel and remain alert to rising water levels in vulnerable drainage areas.
