We will safeguard every inch of Pakistan, CM Sohail Afridi

⏱ 2 minute read

Web Desk: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said on Wednesday that defending every inch of Pakistan’s territory remains a national obligation and vowed that the country stands ready to confront any external threat.

Speaking at a public gathering, Afridi stressed that unity and strategic dialogue are essential to address regional challenges. He said Pakistan will respond firmly to any aggression and will continue to safeguard its sovereignty.

Meanwhile, Afridi urged the formation of a grand jirga comprising representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the federal authorities. He said such a body should engage directly with Afghanistan to address cross border concerns through dialogue.

“We proposed sending a jirga to Afghanistan because it can serve as an effective platform,” Afridi said. He added that his government has consistently stood with Pakistan and will continue to do so in the future.

However, he noted that certain policies require review to ensure better coordination and long term stability. He emphasized that constructive consultation would strengthen national interests.

In addition, Afridi called for greater public trust in the Board of Peace and similar initiatives. He criticized closed door decision making and said authorities should involve citizens in matters that directly affect security and stability.

“Unfortunately many decisions take place behind closed doors,” he said. “We must take the public into confidence.”

Furthermore, Afridi expressed confidence in Pakistan’s defense capabilities. He said the country remains prepared at all times to deal with any power that challenges it.

His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and renewed debate over security and diplomatic engagement with neighboring Afghanistan.
