Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has renewed attention on the 2025 India-Pakistan military confrontation, saying that a total of 11 aircraft were downed during the conflict and reiterating his claim that he helped prevent a nuclear escalation between the two South Asian rivals.

Speaking to reporters during an informal interaction, Trump said the fighting between Pakistan and India had reached a dangerous threshold before international intervention helped de-escalate tensions.

Trump said that the air confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors resulted in the loss of 11 aircraft, without providing additional operational details or evidence.

He also reiterated his earlier assertion that his intervention prevented a broader war, claiming that a potential nuclear exchange could have cost “30 million lives.”

According to Trump, Pakistan’s leadership also credited diplomatic efforts for helping halt the escalation, though no formal statement from Islamabad was provided in the remarks cited.

The remarks immediately revived a politically sensitive debate in India, where past comments by Trump regarding mediation in India-Pakistan tensions have been consistently rejected by New Delhi.

Indian officials have previously maintained that all issues between India and Pakistan are strictly bilateral and do not involve third-party mediation.

Each time Trump has repeated claims about his role in de-escalation, they have triggered strong reactions in India’s political landscape, particularly among critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Opposition parties, especially the Indian National Congress, have frequently used such statements to question the government’s handling of foreign policy and national security narratives.

Renewed comments from Trump tend to reignite domestic debate in India, where sensitivity around military losses and external mediation remains high.

In the same interaction, Trump also commented on his popularity in Israel, claiming approval levels as high as 99 percent, and questioned voting patterns among Jewish voters in the United States.

Trump has referenced the India-Pakistan ceasefire narrative on multiple occasions in recent years, often stating that U.S. involvement helped prevent escalation between the two nuclear powers.

While Washington has acknowledged diplomatic engagement with both countries during periods of tension, it has not confirmed the specific claims regarding aircraft losses or mediation outcomes cited by Trump.

The latest comments are expected to draw renewed responses from New Delhi and further fuel political debate in India, where foreign policy and national security remain closely linked to domestic political discourse.
