In view of the vision and people-friendly decisions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government planned to construct 57thousand residences. Quality and affordable housing will be built under the Department of Housing Punjab, 41 sites have been selected across the province for the construction of 20000 housing units in the first phase. Approval was given for transfer of selected Government lands to Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency. Residences will be built on government lands in 24 districts across the province. All these residences will be given to the deserving persons on easy installments, under the program 22 sites were selected to build residences covering 250 square feet in 16 districts. 11 sites were selected to build 530 square feet of 3-story housing in 5 districts. 8 sites were selected for 4-story dwellings covering 550 square feet in 3 districts. According to the spokesperson of the housing department, the project will be completed in five years, the residences will be provided with a solar energy system, a rainwater storage system will also be introduced, the residences will be built according to international standards, the residences will be built in collaboration with the World Bank and the private sector. He said that all the facilities will be ensured to the residents according to the needs of life, quality check and monitoring of the project will be ensured regularly during the negotiations,this affordable housing project will be completed under the best strategy.
