In a statement shared on his official X account, Fitrat released a list of 492 individuals, asserting that they had been shifted from a rehabilitation facility to a secure location. The statement aimed to reassure the public and their families regarding their safety amid circulating reports of heavy casualties.
However, the announcement has raised serious questions about earlier claims made by some Afghan and international sources, which alleged that hundreds of individuals were killed and injured in the incident. Critics point out that if 492 individuals are confirmed safe, the identities and numbers of those reportedly killed remain unclear.
Notably, no names or details of the alleged deceased have been disclosed so far, further deepening the uncertainty surrounding the claims.
