Talha Anjum regrets waving Indian flag at Nepal show

Pakistani Rapper, Talha Anjum, apologised publicly after a viral performance in Nepal. During the performance, the singer waved the Indian flag and wrapped it around himself, the private media channel reported.

Talha Anjum was performing on Wednesday in Nepal when the incident occurred. One of his Indian fans in crowd through the Indian flag on stage during the performance. Instead of stepping aside, Talha picked up the flag and started waving.

After the incident, Pakistani fans criticised him, saying he had not considered the current dynamics between India and Pakistan.

Appearing on TV on Friday, Talha Anjum apologised to his Pakistani fans.

He clarified what actually happened on stage.

Anjum said the atmosphere during the performance felt completely different from how the viral clip looked once it was isolated and repeatedly shared online.

He explained that the person who handed him the flag did so respectfully, making it seem like a gesture of support from Indian fans in the crowd.

The rapper said that while performing ‘Kaun Talha’, he instinctively accepted the flag, thinking of it as a sign of engagement rather than a political statement.

He added that he acted in the heat of the moment and didn’t realise how long he held the flag while moving around the stage.

“I did not realise for how many seconds I was standing with the flag.”

Rapper Talha Anjum has faced criticism after he waved the Indian flag during a performance in Nepal.    

The debate-triggering event happened while Talha Anjum was singing his song “KaunTalha” when one of his fans from the audience through an Indian flag at the stage. Instead of avoiding or stepping aside, Talha caught the flag and waved it around, and finally wrapped it around himself. After that video went viral, triggering backlash on social media.
