Rapper Talha Anjum has faced criticism after he waved the Indian flag during a performance in Nepal.

The debate-triggering event happened while Talha Anjum was singing his song “KaunTalha” when one of his fans from the audience through an Indian flag at the stage. Instead of avoiding or stepping aside, Talha caught the flag and waved it around, and finally wrapped it around himself. After that video went viral, triggering backlash on social media.

Several Pakistanis criticised Talha Anjum and termed his action as Inappropriate, Insensitive, and unnecessary. Many critics argued that he feels the need to wave the Indian flag, knowing that the relationship between Pakistan with India is not good after the May war between the countries. They also questioned why a Pakistani artist would choose to wave the Indian flag publicly.

In response to the cristism, Talha Anjum justified his bevahior, saying that he will do it again and stressing his opinion that art has no borders. However, his comments made the controversy worse as several accused him of overlooking political realities and public opinions about the issue.

“My heart has no place for hate. My art has no borders. If raising an Indian flag sparks controversy, so be it. I’ll do it again… will never care about the media, the warmongering governments, and their propaganda. Urdu Rap is and will always be borderless,” the young rapper tweeted on November 16, 2025.

It is important to mention that after the May war between India and Pakistan, the Indian government almost banned all social media platforms, including news websites and digital outlets, from being accessed by the Pakistani audience. Moreover, in the Asia Cup 2025, an Indian player consciously avoided to shake hands with the Pakistani team. Other than that, Indian players, after winning the tournament, refused to accept the tournament trophy from the Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Mohsin Naqvi.
