(All India Students’ Association) AISA and other progressive student organisations at Jamia Millia Islamia have staged protests against an RSS programme titled “Yuva Kumbh” held on campus, strongly opposing its presence in the university.
In their statement, the groups alleged that the RSS has no role in India’s freedom struggle and instead collaborated with British colonial rulers, questioning its claim of contributing to 100 years of nation building.
They also criticised the Jamia administration for extending an open invitation to the RSS while allegedly denying permission to progressive groups to organise programmes on education, democracy, and constitutional values.
Protesters further claimed that the RSS promotes a communal agenda that is divisive and therefore has no place in Jamia Millia Islamia or any other educational institution.
During the protest, student organisations including AISA and other students’ organizations raised slogans and displayed posters opposing the event and its messaging, asserting that they would not allow such programmes on campus.
They reiterated that while freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for India’s independence, the RSS, according to them, acted contrary to the national movement.
Meanwhile, the Jamia administration has not issued any official response to the allegations or the ongoing protests. The situation remains tense on campus as demonstrations continue.
