As electricity prices continue to rise across Pakistan, the shift toward alternative energy is accelerating. In a major relief for consumers, global solar panel prices have dropped to their lowest level in history, leading to a significant decrease in solar system prices in Pakistan as well.
According to market sources, continuous declines in international solar cell prices have now begun to stabilize, making solar energy far more affordable for Pakistani consumers than before. Based on the Pakistani currency rate, global solar cell prices have fallen to nearly Rs13.50 per watt — a development energy experts are calling highly significant.
Experts from the solar industry say that although demand for solar technology surged over the past few years, increased global production has now resulted in a notable price drop. They believe this reduction will benefit not only household consumers but also the business sector.
Analysts say installing a solar system at the current rates could be a wise long-term investment, especially due to rising electricity tariffs and persistent load-shedding issues.
Prices of 5kW and 10kW residential solar systems have also declined noticeably, while several companies are introducing installment plans and special packages to attract customers.
Energy experts further predict that if the same trend continues in the global market, solar systems in Pakistan may become even cheaper in the coming months, boosting the adoption of renewable energy nationwide.
