The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has put Sindh on high alert for floods.
In the first week of September from 3rd and 4th, a flow of 900,000 to 950,000 cusecs is expected to pass through the Panjnad Headworks.
From September 5 to 6, at Guddu Barrage, NDMA has forecast inflows between 800,000 and 1.1 million cusecs. Sukkur Barrage is likely to face similar flows between September 6 and 7.
Kotri Barrage may see water flows of 800,000 to 1 million cusecs from September 8 to 9.

Regarding the possible flood situation, Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro highlighted that the Sukkur Barrage’s structure is decades old, and efforts are underway to upgrade its gates.
Additionally, due to this emergency, the Sindh Agriculture Department has cancelled all leaves of staff.
Karachi’s Mayor, Murtaza Wahab has assured that the provincial government has taken measures to control the situation and urged the public not to panic if it rains in the city.
Karachi may face possible urban flooding between August 30 and September 2.
It is pertinent to mention that the current flood situation is extremely severe in almost every city of Pakistan as now Sindh on high alert for floods.
