Web Desk: Shia community leadership and organizational workers in the Mirpur Division issued a formal press release on June 16, 2026, requesting the Joint Public Action Committee to suspend or call off its ongoing protest activities.
The official statement issued by the Anjuman-e-Hussainia Bhimber Azad Kashmir, highlights that the holy month of Muharram has commenced, creating an urgent need for peace and religious harmony.

The district president and organizational members emphasized that the enforcement of Section 144 across the region restricts public gatherings and protest rallies.
Consequently, the ongoing political demonstrations create friction with the upcoming religious gatherings, processions, and majalis planned for the holy month.
The leadership explicitly stated that their religious body holds no affiliation with any political or protest movement, desiring only an atmosphere where citizens can fulfill their religious duties without disruption.
Furthermore, the organizers urged the Joint Public Action Committee to respect Islamic sentiments and the sanctity of Muharram by postponing their demonstrations.
They noted that a pause in civil unrest would allow mourners and the general public to participate in traditional rituals with complete freedom, peace of mind, and security.
In addition to addressing the protesters, the leadership extended their appeal to the local administration, government authorities, and political figures.
They stressed that dialogue, mutual respect, and tolerance serve as the most effective tools to resolve existing regional conflicts.
The statement concluded with a call for all sectors of society to cooperate actively, thereby ensuring law and order remains stable throughout these sacred days.
