Web Desk: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud expressed support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions while emphasising the need to protect freedom of navigation and maritime security in key waterways.
The remarks came during a telephone conversation between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and his Saudi counterpart, as regional uncertainty continues amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
During the conversation, Prince Faisal appreciated what he described as Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
He also expressed support for Islamabad’s mediation efforts at a time when tensions across the Middle East have heightened concerns over security, trade routes and broader regional stability.
Pakistan has recently intensified diplomatic contacts with regional partners as part of efforts to encourage dialogue and reduce the risk of escalation.
Meanwhile, both sides stressed the importance of safeguarding maritime security, particularly in sensitive waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of global oil shipments passes.
The leaders underscored the need to ensure freedom of navigation and secure maritime routes amid growing concerns over potential disruptions linked to regional tensions.
Any instability in the Strait of Hormuz could affect global energy markets and international shipping.
Furthermore, the two foreign ministers agreed to maintain close coordination on regional and international developments, reflecting continued strategic cooperation between Islamabad and Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan maintain longstanding political, economic and security ties, with both countries frequently consulting on key regional issues.
