Pakistan’s left-handed batter Saud Shakeel is unlikely to be included in the Test squad for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England due to fitness concerns.
According to sources, the middle-order batter is still recovering from an injury, making his participation in the squad doubtful.
Work is ongoing on his rehabilitation, while a replacement middle-order batter is being called up to the ongoing training camp as a precautionary measure.
Sources say selectors have been forced to consider several changes to the Test squad because of multiple injury concerns within the team.
Earlier, reports also emerged that wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was struggling with fitness issues. As a replacement option, Rohail Nazir has been included in the red-ball camp.
Pakistan’s red-ball training camp for the West Indies and England tours is currently underway, with players scheduled to participate in a scenario-based match at the LCC Ground today.
In July–August 2026, Pakistan’s men’s cricket team will once again embark on a red-ball tour of the Caribbean, facing the West Indies in a two-match Test series that forms part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
The tour will run from July 15 to August 7, featuring a four-day warm-up match and two high-stakes Test matches at iconic Caribbean venues.
This tour is not just another bilateral series — it is a defining chapter for Pakistan’s Test ambitions, squad evolution, and overseas credibility, while also marking a significant milestone for West Indies cricket infrastructure and revival.
