Punjab: Slip over, complete digitization decision on all toll plazas

In an important meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, several major decisions were taken for the development and public convenience of the province, the most prominent of which is the transfer of all toll plazas to the digital system. It has been decided in the meeting to abolish the slip system and complete digitization on all the toll plazas of the province, now 'One App, One System' will be introduced in the motorway mode on 38 toll plazas so that there is transparency and speed in the convenience and transportation of the public. The meeting approved public-private partnerships for the construction, repair and maintenance projects of 5 major roads, in which private entities will work and the government will share with them, the process is expected to reduce costs and improve the speed of work. Rs 40 billion was saved in Punjab through e-tendering, which is being termed as a big success at the government level. The Chief Minister has ordered the installation of solar street lights on all newly constructed roads to save energy and promote an eco-friendly system. With this, a number of projects have been approved for the beauty of Lahore, including the railway station, Data Darbar, Egyptian Shah, Ek Maurya, and the beauty and rewamping of two Maurya bridges. The meeting also reviewed in detail the progress on the projects of C&W and Lda. It was informed in the briefing that 54 bridges, 142 minor bridges and 858 roads affected by the recent floods have been fully restored, 93 km long Multan-Vahari road is being made the first dust-free road in Punjab which will be completed by June 2026, as well as the tourism corridor from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border will also be completed by June. 2341 projects of 5251 km of roads across Punjab to be commissioned in December 2025, targeted to be completed by June 2026.
