Punjab Free laptop scheme 2025

Good news for students in Pakistan as the government has announced a new update on the free laptop scheme which was unveiled earlier.

As per details, the scheme is set to launch the second phase of its free laptop distribution scheme for students, which will expand access to digital learning tools across Punjab.

The Higher Education Department stated that the merit-based distribution will kick off next month in September, with a formal schedule already finalized.

Punjab Chief Minister is expected to officially inaugurate the scheme during a ceremony in the first or second week of next month.

In the first phase of the program, 14,000 laptops were distributed among students in Lahore.

The next phase will extend the scheme’s reach to benefit a larger number of deserving students across Punjab, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting higher education and digital inclusion.

Here’s what benefits it offers to students

  1. Encourages digital literacy and e-learning among students.
  2. Provides access to modern educational tools for research and assignments.
  3. Reduces the digital divide, especially for students from underprivileged backgrounds
  4. Supports merit-based academic achievement.

Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif announced that 100,000 free laptops will be distributed to talented students across Pakistan based solely on merit.

As per details, the announcement was made during an event in Islamabad to commemorate International Youth Day. The initiative will cover students in all four provinces, the federal capital Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with the distribution process designed to be transparent and free from nepotism.

The Prime Minister stated that this program is separate from an existing laptop scheme that provides devices through interest-based loans. During his address, Prime Minister Sharif also referenced Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, as Pakistan clinched victory on May 10 against a numerically superior and overconfident enemy.

He said that this triumph has renewed vigour across the nation. He urged the youth to develop the spirit of this achievement and strive for excellence to bring pride to the country.
