Web Desk: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has advised customers to expect possible disruptions in internet services as repair work begins on a damaged submarine communications cable.

The company said the maintenance operation, being conducted in coordination with the International Cable Consortium, started on May 11 and is scheduled to continue through May 18.

PTCL said users could face slower internet connectivity and intermittent service interruptions during the repair period, especially during peak evening hours when network traffic is typically higher.

According to the company, the fault in the submarine cable has affected network performance, making the maintenance work necessary to stabilize connectivity and prevent further disruptions.

Moreover, PTCL stated that engineers are working alongside international partners to complete the repairs as quickly as possible in an effort to minimize inconvenience for customers.

The telecom operator said the maintenance activity is aimed at restoring the cable’s operational integrity and strengthening the reliability of internet services over the longer term.

Although temporary degradation in service quality may occur, the company maintained that the repair work would ultimately improve network performance and customer experience once completed.

Meanwhile, PTCL apologised to subscribers for the inconvenience caused during the maintenance window and urged users to remain prepared for occasional connectivity issues until the repairs are finalised.
