The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has stepped up efforts to address complaints about poor mobile and internet services across the country.
The authority conducted a nationwide field monitoring survey to improve mobile service quality, inspecting 115 telecom sites in one week.
According to the PTA, network performance and service quality at mobile operators’ sites were assessed in various cities between September 30 and October 7, 2026.
According to details released by the PTA, the highest number of telecom sites were inspected in Lahore, where 39 sites were checked. Karachi followed with 17 sites and Sukkur with 16.
Similarly, 14 sites each were inspected in Multan and Rawalpindi, while eight were checked in Quetta, four in Abbottabad and three in Gilgit.
During the field monitoring exercise, PTA teams assessed overall mobile network performance and the quality of voice calls and data services. Network coverage and backup arrangements in the event of power outages were also examined.
The teams investigated issues such as failed call connections, dropped calls during conversations and slow mobile internet speeds.
The PTA said consumer complaints were also reviewed to identify factors affecting mobile service quality. Technical faults were identified at mobile sites and towers, following which the relevant mobile operators were directed to take corrective measures to resolve the reported issues.
The authority added that efforts were also underway to coordinate with local administrations, elected representatives and relevant communities to address mobile service-related problems.
According to the PTA, mobile service quality has shown noticeable improvement in several areas where telecom sites were inspected, while effective monitoring of operators’ performance continues.
The authority reiterated that telecom operators are being continuously monitored to further improve the quality and availability of mobile services.
The primary objective of these measures, the PTA said, is to ensure the provision of better and more reliable telecom services and resolve problems faced by consumers with mobile calls and internet connectivity.
