A powerful explosion occurred near the railway track at Chaman Phatak in Quetta on Sunday morning, triggering panic across the area. According to initial reports, at least 10 people were injured and shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
The blast was so intense that its sound was heard from far away, causing residents and shopkeepers to rush out of their homes and businesses in fear. Nearby buildings and shops reportedly suffered damage, with several windowpanes shattered due to the impact of the explosion.
Following the incident, police, security forces, rescue teams, ambulances, and fire brigade personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene. Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the exact nature of the explosion — whether it was an act of terrorism, a planted explosive device, or an accidental cylinder blast.
Officials said no fatalities have been confirmed so far, but emergency services remain on high alert.
Chaman Phatak is considered a strategically important railway and trade link connecting Quetta with the border city of Chaman and onward to Afghanistan. The route is heavily used for trade, transportation, and security movement, making the incident particularly concerning for law enforcement agencies.
Security officials noted that attacks on railway infrastructure and transport routes in Balochistan have occurred in the past as part of attempts to disrupt communication and economic activity in the province.
