Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the United States and Iran had reached a peace agreement following intensive diplomatic negotiations, saying both countries had agreed to immediately and permanently cease military operations across all theaters of conflict, including Lebanon.

In a statement posted on social media, Sharif described the accord as a major diplomatic achievement and said a formal signing ceremony would take place in Switzerland on June 19.

According to Sharif, the agreement commits both Washington and Tehran to a complete and enduring halt to military action, marking what could be a significant step toward easing tensions in the region.

The Pakistani premier said the breakthrough reflected the willingness of both sides to pursue diplomacy and dialogue instead of continued confrontation.

“The agreement has been reached following intensive talks,” Sharif said, adding that the accord would pave the way for a broader de-escalation effort.

Meanwhile, Sharif credited several regional partners for helping facilitate negotiations and move the process toward a successful conclusion.

He expressed appreciation to the leadership of Qatar for its role in supporting mediation efforts and helping bridge differences between the two sides. He also acknowledged the contributions of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing their diplomatic engagement as important to securing the agreement.

The prime minister further praised the United States and Iran for demonstrating a commitment to resolving disputes through political and diplomatic channels.

With the agreement in place, mediators will convene a series of meetings this week to prepare for its implementation, Sharif said.

Those discussions are expected to focus on technical arrangements and procedural issues necessary for executing the terms of the accord. The meetings will also help lay the groundwork for the official signing ceremony scheduled in Switzerland later this week.

The announcement signals a transition from negotiations to implementation, with diplomats and mediators expected to concentrate on mechanisms aimed at ensuring compliance with the agreement.

Attention will now turn to the upcoming talks and the June 19 signing ceremony, which observers view as a crucial milestone in translating the diplomatic breakthrough into a lasting framework for stability.
