Web desk: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) following the disputed dismissal of Fakhar Zaman in the Asia Cup clash against India.
Sources said the PCB has also called for an inquiry into the umpire’s role in the incident.
The decision, made during last night’s match, ruled Fakhar Zaman out in circumstances that many players and supporters believe were unfair.
The call has sparked widespread criticism from the Pakistan camp as well as fans.
Pakistan’s T20 Asia Cup captain, Salman Ali Agha, also raised doubts over the ruling, questioning whether the catch had been clean.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “We felt the ball touched the ground, but the umpire’s decision is final.”
The Pakistani team captain, Salman Ali Agha, spoke up after Fakhar Zaman was controversially given out during the high-voltage Pakistan vs India clash in the Asia Cup 2025.
Agha, while addressing a press conference, said, “I don’t know about the decision. As far as I am concerned, it looked like the ball bounced before being collected. Obviously, it’s the umpire’s job and they can make mistakes—I have no problem with that. But to me, it did look like it bounced.”
“I might be wrong, I don’t know. The way Fakhar was batting, if he had continued through the power play, we could probably have scored around 190,” he continued.
The incident took place on the third delivery of Pakistan’s innings. Fakhar Zaman was attempting to drive at an off-cutter from the Indian player Hardik Pandya, edging the ball towards wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.
‘We will meet India again in the final,’ says Pakistan’s opener Sahibzada Farhan
Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan said he usually does not celebrate after scoring a fifty, but made an exception when he reached the landmark against India.
“When I scored a fifty against India, I immediately thought of celebrating,” Farhan said, adding, “People don’t know what my celebration will mean, but it doesn’t matter.”
“It was not a one-sided match against India; we took it till the end. We will meet India again in the final,” he said.
