RAWALPINDI: Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), paid an official visit to Romania, where he met Lieutenant General Leonard-Gabriel Baraboi, Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral defence relations and explore new avenues for enhanced collaboration between the two air forces.
According to ISPR, upon his arrival at the Romanian Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Romanian Air Force. During his meeting with Lieutenant General Baraboi, the two leaders held detailed discussions focused on advancing operational cooperation. Key areas of discussion included joint air exercises, exchange programmes, and training initiatives for both air and ground crew.
The two dignitaries also exchanged views on regional security issues and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace and stability at both regional and global levels.
Lieutenant General Baraboi commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force, particularly its achievements in recent years, and acknowledged the significant progress made through PAF’s indigenization drive under the leadership of Air Chief Marshal Sidhu. Both sides agreed to establish stronger institutional mechanisms to ensure sustained cooperation in addressing shared aerial defence challenges.
The discussions also covered the potential for expanding air force-to-air force collaboration and developing defence-industrial partnerships, particularly in advanced aerospace technologies.
