The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) successfully rescued all 20 Pakistani crew members of a cargo vessel that sank in the open sea near Ormara during a joint rescue operation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the cargo vessel Al Hamd Bin Yaqoob sank after meeting with an accident approximately 32 nautical miles south of Ormara, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
ISPR said the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) received the distress alert, following which Pakistan Navy ship PNS Hunain, a Sea King helicopter, and a PMSA Defender-class vessel were dispatched to carry out the operation.
Thanks to the swift and coordinated response, all 20 Pakistani crew members were safely recovered from the sea and are receiving initial medical assistance.
ISPR noted that this was the second successful rescue operation conducted by the Pakistan Navy and PMSA within the past 24 hours, highlighting the professionalism, rapid response, and effective coordination of both organizations in dealing with maritime emergencies.
The statement added that the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency remain fully prepared at all times to protect lives and respond to emergencies within Pakistan’s maritime waters.
